Details of the Historical Tour
From the word GO......history galore the Queens Park Savannah possess that we don't know whatsoever. Our historical tour starts at the front of the "Grand Stand" and we take a leisurely 2 hour walk around the 2.3 mile Savannah while you soak in the very rich historical content that will be revealed. An insight into the historical content that will be told are as follows:
(1) Hear detailed history of the "Magnificent 7 buildings".
(2) Detailed history of the street names around the Savannah.
(3) History of the Botanical Garden and The Hollows.
(4) History of the very walkway we walk along.
(5) History of Memorial Park.
(6) History of Hilton Hotel and Lady Young Road.
(7) History of St. Clair, New-town and Tranquillity.
We take a stroll into the Botanical Gardens where we visit the graves of some very prominent persons of the colonial era......hear the rich history of the President's House.......reasons why there are so many trees planted in the gardens that are native to other countries very far from Trinidad.
Back at the start of our walk which by then is the finish, we conclude our historical tour with light beverages and finger foods before departing.
Bring an extra shirt or jersey, just in case a change is required.
Bring along water with you as the afternoon can be quite hot.
A notebook and a pen for notes if you so desire, for is historical information galore.
Extra money to probably purchase snow cone or any edibles along the way.
